A Fencing Match

To start a fencing match all gears should be ready

This consists a jacket, an under-layer stretching halfway down the sword arm known as a plastron, a glove for the sword hand, breeches or short trousers which stop just before the knee, and socks. Also worn under the jacket are plastic chest protectors, a mask to prevent head injuries, and when fencing foil or sabre the lamé, an electrically conductive garment worn over the scoring area for each fencing sword type, and the body cord which connects to the weapon.

BASIC FENCING GEARS

Fencing matches are played on a fencing piste, which is a sort of small court. It’s 14m long and 1.5 to 2m metres wide. There’s a centre line down the middle, two en- garde lines, two warning lines, and two limit lines.

The body cord serves as the connection between a fencer and a reel of wire that is part of a system for electrically detecting that the weapon has touched the opponent.
Fencing competitions are devided into parts starting with poules, tableaux to semi-finals into the finals.

In poules the fencer gets to play with 5-6 other fencers each match is 5 hits in 3 minutes, trying to get higher scores  to get qualified to tableaux. playing in the tableaux is to get 15 hits playing with one fencer, the Olympic fencing rules limit each individual set to nine minutes. This is split into three minute intervals, and fencers can rest for one minute in between sets.If neither opponent has scored 15 hits, the fencer with the greatest number of hits will win the match.
